Growing up I did not have an easy life, I lost my hearing when I was 12, was always picked on because I could not hear. I used to tell people that if you need glasses to see, then I need hearing aids to hear. Fast forward 20 years, I now have 2 bi-lateral cochlear implants. I can hear 98% with them on and I am no longer dependent on anyone in my family.
Throughout my high school years and beyond, I always struggled with my weight and my energy levels, but I never put anything two it. I would regularly exercise, I tried all kinds of diets, went on weight watchers, took supplements, etc. This all worked for a short term because I deprived my body of the nutrients that it needed to survive and I thought that all diets worked. I was so wrong. 98% of the people gain their weight back after 6 months because they deprived themselves.

2014, was an epic year for me. I was always a walker, if you wanted me to walk 10 miles, I would and then one day a friend of mine said to me, “why don’t you try running!” I said to her “I can’t run, I have asthma”. She said try it and follow Couch 2 5k and build yourself up slowly. So, here I am 5 years later, and I have run 6 marathons, numerous 5’ks, 10’ks and many many half marathons. I never imagined that I would ever become a runner. Running not only helped me get in shape, lose some weight, but it taught me a whole new meaning of what exercise is all about.
In 2017, I was diagnosed, with two autoimmune diseases, Hashimoto and Autoimmune Thyroiditis. I had no energy, my weight was up and i felt awful. It was so bad that I would have to pull over on the side of the road just to close my eyes for 20 minutes so that I could gain some energy to make it home. I could not take it anymore and I knew that I had to make changes. That’s when my friend Shawn introduced me to a Health Coach. I had no idea what a health coach was, nor did know what they could do. Changing my habits and my health, created a desire and a passion for me to help others. If I can help someone make small changes and put a smile on someone’s face when they say thank you, means everything to me.
So, 7 months ago, I went to school to become a certified health coach. You may ask, what is a health coach? A health coach sees your desires and holds you accountable through a process of building self confidence, self awareness and self fulfillment. A health coach works with you and encourages you to discover what is the best means of action for your transformation and compassionately guides you towards lasting habit changes. A health coach focuses on what is going well and what is working rather than focusing on weaknesses. I knew that I was meant to be a coach with the drive and passion that I have to help others.
